Abstract Calligraphy

When life gives you lemons… Abstract Calligraphy is a 2020-quarantine lemonade. Abstract brushstrokes, taken from endless homework hours practicing Chinese calligraphy during school years, are taken out of context (to not feel traditional, ancestral) with aid of colorful, geometric elements inspired by contemporary architecture. Abstract Calligraphy pieces are sometimes painted combining acrylic paint with some of the best coffee in Panama (and in the world) over “manta sucia”, a durable, inexpensive fabric commonly used for farm work in the interior of Panama. Colorful combinations are distilled from earlier work.
